Using the website
Knowledge should be
easier to reach.
We are developing the site to support clear reading, keyboard navigation and different screen sizes. This page describes the features available and the work still to do.
Reading and navigation.
- Use the “Skip to content” link at the start of each page to reach the main content with a keyboard.
- Links, buttons and form controls show a visible keyboard focus indicator. On small screens, the navigation opens with the Menu button and closes with Escape.
- The guide library has labelled search and subject filters, a result count and a clear-filters control.
- Browser zoom is supported. Reduced-motion preferences disable smooth scrolling and interface transitions.
Follow the detail at your own pace.
Guide illustrations have descriptive text and accompanying captions or image notes. Where provided, larger image links help with closer inspection.
Wide reference tables scroll within their own region on narrow screens. Those regions can receive keyboard focus. Guide contents link directly to individual sections.
Work still to do.
The site is in development. We have not completed an independent accessibility audit or established a WCAG conformance level.
Complex illustrations may need longer text descriptions. The accessibility of downloadable PDFs and Word records has not been fully assessed. External source websites and the separate Buildology application may behave differently.
We will use reported difficulties and testing to improve these areas. If a document is difficult to use, the related web guide may provide a more accessible starting point.
